Overview
BuycatVPN is built on a strict no-logs principle. When you connect to our VPN, your internet traffic is encrypted and routed through our servers. We do not monitor, record, or retain any information about what you do while connected. We have engineered our systems with this as a hard requirement, not an afterthought.
This policy describes specifically and precisely what is and is not retained by BuycatVPN, both on our servers and on your device.
What We Do Not Log
The following data does not exist on BuycatVPN's servers. It is not collected, retained, or accessible to us. We cannot produce it in response to a legal request because it is never created.
- Browsing activity: The websites you visit, content you access, or actions you take online while connected to BuycatVPN are not visible to us and are not recorded.
- Traffic content: We do not inspect, analyse, or store the content of any data transmitted through the VPN tunnel.
- DNS queries: The domain names you resolve while connected are not logged.
- Your originating IP address: The IP address of your device at the time of connection is not stored on our servers.
- Assigned VPN IP address: We do not maintain records of which VPN IP address was allocated to your session.
- Connection timestamps: We do not log when you connect or disconnect.
- Session duration: The length of any individual VPN session is not recorded.
- Bandwidth consumption per user: We do not track the volume of data transferred by any individual user through the VPN.
What We Do Store on Our Servers
The following information is stored on our servers solely to operate your account and sync your preferences across devices. None of it relates to your VPN activity or browsing behaviour.
Account and subscription status
Your email address, subscription tier, and billing status are stored to authenticate you and verify that you have an active subscription before connecting. This is standard account data required to operate any subscription service.
VPN settings and preferences
Your in-app configuration choices (such as preferred protocol, kill switch state, and auto-reconnect setting) are synced to our servers so that your preferences carry across devices and reinstalls. These are your settings, not usage records.
Saved server favourites
If you save a server or location as a favourite, that selection is stored on our servers to persist across your devices. This reflects a choice you made, not a log of where you connected.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device only. It is not transmitted to our servers and remains entirely under your control. Uninstalling the app removes it.
- Last connected server country and city, used to pre-select the server on next launch
- Current session download and upload speed counters, reset when the app is closed
- Blocked ads and trackers count for the current session
- Your encrypted authentication session, stored in your operating system keychain or secure storage
